What keyboarding skills are students expected to learn?

Grades K-2
Keyboarding is not specifically part of the K-2 Core Curriculum. However, Keyboarding does tie into some of the K-2 content standards and objectives.
  • Develop skills in gross and fine motor movement.
  • Develop and use skills to communicate ideas, information, and feelings.

  1. Key with proper technique
  2. Key at a minimum of 15 words per minute (WPM) on at least three 30-second timings. 
  3. Key at 3 or fewer errors on 30-second timings. 
  4. Key without using the backspace/delete key on timings.
