Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality

Picture
Augmented Reality (AR) is cutting-edge technology that is literally changing the way we view the world! Through the lens of the user's device, the software recognizes images and objects (aka "triggers"), and overlays predetermined content (graphics or videos). The app, Aurasma, is an example of this software.  Virtual Reality (VR) is a technology from science fiction that has become science fact. VR is an immersive multimedia experience that uses technology simulate reality. Currently, Google Cardboard is the leading tool in this field.

AR and VR Options for the Classroom

Uses:

1.  AR: Enhance physical objects with embedded content.
2.  VR: Virtual field trips.

Limitations:

1.  AR: Takes time to create your own content.
2.  VR: Most need Google Cardboard viewers and devices (talk to your Ed Tech, we can loan you some).
