What are Google Docs and Google Drive?

Picture
Google Docs/Drive is a group of free online tools that can be worked on simultaneously by many people. Our district uses the CSDdocs domain to use Google Drive. All staff and students have access to this powerful tool. For faculty and staff their Canyons Google Drive account is firstname.lastname@csddocs.org for students, it's their regular computer login@csddocs.org. The password should match that of the regular email password. For more information on CSDdocs, check out our page here.

What tools are included?
  • Document which is similar to Microsoft Word
  • Presentation which is similar to Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Spreadsheet which is similar to Microsoft Excel
  • Form is totally unique. Create questionnaires.
  • Drawing which is similar to Microsoft Word's drawing functions.
  • Collection which is similar to Folders on a computer.
Who can use it?
Anyone who needs to create documents, spreadsheets and surveys.

Why use these tools over Microsoft?
  1. Simplifies life. Students can access projects at school and home without needing to keep track of a flash drive.
  2. Free. Every faculty member or student can get Google Drive.
  3. No worries about compatibility of programs, versions or devices.
  4. Unique! Microsoft doesn’t make anything like forms.

Google Forms is part of the suite of free tools available through Google. It is great for creating surveys because it places the data into a spreadsheet that can be sorted any way you would like.
