Pixie: The Life of Abraham Lincoln

11/12/2012

Picture
Our school district has purchased the software called Pixie 3 for teachers and students to use for projects.  Mrs. Steiner's 2nd Grade class at Bell View Elementary created a timeline about Abraham Lincoln.  The Big Idea of the project was, "How working together has changed history."  The focus was on Abraham Lincoln.  After reading and talking about Abraham Lincoln's life, Mrs. Steiner had the students partner up, and after giving them one sentence about Abraham Lincoln's life,  the students created a picture using Pixie 3 on their class Netbooks.    She then organized the student pictures into a timeline. Once students added audio to their pictures using Pixie 3,  the class project was exported into a movie. I thought this is a great example of how technology can be integrated into the common core and as part of their Reading Street 2nd grade curriculum.  Great job Mrs. Steiner's 2nd grade class!
