This year, Canyon View Elementary wanted to change their school news program. We stopped doing a live version and went to YouTube. We also started to use a Green Screen to be in different parts of the world or have different backgrounds behind us.
Using a green screen is fun but it doesn’t just happen. When you want to use it you need to plan the scene and know what background you plan to use before you start filming. We found this out the hard way when what we filmed ended up being in front of the picture in the background that we wanted to see also. If you know your background picture or video, then you know to film your subject in the middle of the screen or to one side or the other. Currently we are using the green screen to spotlight different colleges from around the country. The students love to use it and we plan on using it a lot more with them.
