Digital Citizenship and Online Safety

Digital citizenship is one of the most important things we teach our students today. It is vital students know how to use online tools appropriately and effectively.  The term "digital citizenship" refers to the norms of appropriate and responsible technology use (appropriate interactions with others, observance of copy-write and fair use, etc.).

It is important for all of us to know that we have a "digital footprint" whenever we interact online and we need to take ownership of what we post online.

Digital Citizenship Coordinators

Canyons School District has implemented the Digital Citizenship Coordinator program as a way to ensure teachers, students and community members are receiving information and training about internet safety and digital citizenship.  Each school has a Digital Citizenship Coordinator (typically a teacher or media specialist).  The Digital Citizenship Coordinator has received special training and communicates important tips, resources and information to staff members on a monthly basis, along with leading staff, student and community training during the school year.
